![]() Speed up your understanding of watercolour with colour charts. We did a very quick primary triadic colour wheel last night but you can increase your feel and knowledge by doing a light and dark colour chart. how light can you paint a colour? how much do you need? how much water do you need? using the same colour, how dark can you paint it? straight from the tube, pigment (paint) is quite sticky and hard to move, it needs a tiny amount of water to get is moving, load through your brush and with just ONE brush stroke using the side of your brush, sweep it on your paper. Compare the darks to each other, how dark are the yellows compared to the blue/green darks? the light values are all pretty much of a muchness BUT understanding the MASSTONE of a colour straight from the tube is important, it tells you about the tinting strength of a colour. colour chart template download sorry about the back of my head in some of the video :(

AuthorAmanda's demonstrations include an emphasis on composition, colour, design principles, relationships and values. Just a wee reminder I make my living from my art and teaching. I share links, resources and materials with you, paying students, they are yours to keep. But PLEASE, do not share my teachings with others who have not paid for the pleasure. I appreciate student's copying my work as a learning tool, but it is not appropriate for this work to be sold or exhibited. Thanks for your consideration. Categories
